Existing Master Plan of Paradip

The Master Plan of Paradip was prepared by the Town Planning Unit, Cuttack under the aegis of the Directorate of Town Planning, Govt. of Orissa in the 1970’s and 1980’s. This was notified in the year 1987.

The planning horizon was 2001 and population was projected for the horizon year. However the growth of population in this area was much less than anticipated. The report projects the population of Port town (two villages namely Sandhakuda & Bhitargarh) would be of 1,20,000  and 1,30,000 persons in civil town by 2001. However the population of Paradip Municipality, as per census 2001 is only 73,625. A substantial increase in population was expected due to in-migration.
