Relevance of a comprehensive development plan for pda area

Potential for development in the PDA area

Paradip is a major port in eastern India serving as an important gateway for national and international investments.

The recent trend of urbanization/ industrialization coupled with that anticipated in the near future indicates a considerable growth of population and calls for provision of additional urban infrastructure and facilities, thereby requiring preparation of a CDP for the PDA area.

It acts as an important Trade Center of Orissa and the surrounding states in the country.

Gradual development of its adjoining hinterland is occurring due to establishment of mega industries and their multiplier effects.

Need for planning the infrastructure to foster development

Paradip is the most important trade hub of Eastern Orissa. The port is well connected by road and railroad.

The close proximity of PDA area to mineral rich regions in Orissa, Jharkhand and Chattishgarh make it an ideal location of large and medium scale industries.

Adequate urban facilities and infrastructure need to commensurate with the growth of urban population and trend of urbanization.

Transport linkage of Paradip area with Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and other major cities in the state; as well as neighboring states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and metros like Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad needs meticulous planning.
